Children are accompanied by their primary caregiver and whilst the hospital provides meals to the patient who are hospitalised, they do not provide for the caregiver. The caregivers are already overextended financially as a result of the additional expenses that result due to the medical condition. Their main concern is the rest of their family and they see to it that they have first which often means caregivers go hungry. The health of the caregiver is as important as that of the patient because the patient looks to them for strength and support.
