We’re aiming to raise R1 000 000 by the end of 2018!
Childhood cancer families need us to be available and present to them on a more full-time basis.
You may wonder why us?
In the words of a mom whose child is now an angel:
“The people of the My Child Has Cancer Trust took me under their wing, made me a part of them, wrapped me in love and carried me through one of the scariest, loneliest experiences in my life. Without them, I would not have made it through. They helped me feel a little normal.
It helps that the ladies of the trust have gone through it. Someone that hasn’t gone through it will tell you things like, ‘You’ll get through this,’ but someone who has been through it will tell you, ‘Where you are now will be the darkest dark BUT you will get through it.’
You feel as if you’re the only one that something like this happens to and then these people come and they connect you with others who can relate to you…and you become family.”
Another mother forwarded this video with these beautiful words: “Thank you for being root people to so many.“
It is our ability to relate and connect with people like us that is our greatest strength. While our volunteer model means the MCHCT minimises on operating costs, the scale of our work is making this increasingly difficult. We have grown to the point where we require office space as well as a small number of remunerated staff.
How can you help?
Here’s what we’re thinking. If we can get 1000 people to pledge R100 a month for a minimum of 1 year, we’ve got it covered …and then some! If what we do inspires you to make a pledge, please select the monthly or yearly option.
